    by rogueoperator
Voting fraud allegedly perpetrated by the dominant United Russia party in the recent parliamentary elections has given rise to widespread and vigorous protests, and there are even calls for new protests to take place. An underreported fact about the recent elections is that the Communist Party took a sizable slice of the voting at 20%, and the social-democratic A Just Russia came in at 14%.

Russian Election Protests Signal Warning for Democrats

    by rogueoperator
Russian voters are notoriously apathetic. Despite relatively high election turnout compared with the United States, most do not care much for politics. Yet tens of thousands of Muscovites showed up in the streets to protest the perceived election fraud in the recent parliamentary elections. Thousands are now planning to hold a new elections protest.

Marxist Democrat Cringes As Russian Immigrants Compare Communism to…Democrats!

    Posted by LaborUnionReport

There is just no way to describe this without a smirk and a chuckle. When you read how some of New York’s Russian immigrants (who know Soviet-style Communism all-too-well) are aligning with Republicans—because they view Democrats’ policies to be too similar to the failed policies of their homeland—there is just something richly ironic there. However, when you read how their never-met-a-Marxist-she-didn’t-love Democrat legislator reacts to be having her party compared to Soviet Russia, now that is just over-the-top funny:

Canadian universities failing to protect free speech: report

A “disconcerting” number of Canadian universities have failed in their mission to protect free speech and in the process are helping to erode open debate in the larger society, a new report contends.
“If censorship is OK on a university campus, I think there is a spin-off effect that harms the health of free speech outside the university as well,” Calgary lawyer John Carpay, one of the authors of The 2011 Campus Free Speech Index, said Thursday. “Taxpayers are paying hundreds of millions of dollars to these institutions that promise to be a forum for frank debate.
